The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) in collaboration with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) and Aotearoa Astrotourism Academy (AAA) in New Zealand, has organized a 3-day practical training in Astronomy, Astrotourism, Astrophotography, Stargazing, Astronomy Outreach, Tanzania’s Dark Sky Movement and setting up an astrotourism business among many other interesting courses. Given its dark sky regions, astronomical landmarks, closeness to the Equator, and rich cultural background, Tanzania presents many opportunities for astrotourism. Astrotourism is becoming increasingly popular worldwide and peer tourist destinations in East and Central Africa have begun diversifying their tourism revenue streams by offering astrotourism products. However, Tanzania, despite its fame for its natural and cultural heritage, and exceptional night skies still lags behind in astrotourism. Thus, this training will provide an invaluable opportunity for tourism business operators to diversify their offerings, enhance skills, and engage with the growing market.
